Alegria' means 'joy' or 'happiness' in Spanish and Portuguese. Here, it is not solely a word designed to conjure up expectations of one's stay in this charming Provençal 'mas' (or house), but one reflecting the cheerful demeanour of the owners Cindy and Dieter.

Aups is in the heart of Provence, and the guest house is set amidst pretty olive groves, from which it produces its own oil. It offers 3 well-sized double rooms, a romantic suite and also a family suite which is particularly spacious as well as luxurious. The 3 double rooms are very large at 40m² to 50m², and have their own entrance, giving a sense of grandeur for each guest. They also have a private garden and terrace, their own bathroom with Italian-style shower and a separate WC. The romantic suite offers a choice between a shower and a bath, an excellent view of Aups, and has its own covered solarium terrace.

The house is surrounded by various ample terraces and little spots in which to relax, some in the sun, some in the shade, including one with a hammock. In the South of France, the swimming pool is certainly a welcome feature. Guests also enjoy the traditional French game of pétanque with the southern French drink Pastis.

New for 2011 are the various themed workshops: pottery, wine, truffle-hunting, jewellery-making.

Restaurant:

Alegria does not have a restaurant, but there is one a mere half kilometre away in the village. Buffet breakfast is included in the room price.
