Château des Briottières is a renowned chateau hotel 28 kilometres from Angers in the Loire valley. It is well-known for the friendliness of its management and staff, something which might not necessarily be expected in such a luxurious and imposing hotel. Equally, it has won many plaudits from the most respected commentators for the beauty of both the building and the surrounding estate.

This luxury 4-star hotel of 14 bedrooms is well-situated at the heart of the Pays-de-la-Loire and only two hours or so from Paris. The owner has worked hard to retain the spirit of 18th century French living in all manner of details of the building. Four-poster beds abound with fine fabrics, whilst all rooms can be set-up for twin beds if desired. Each one, situated on the first floor of this large building, also looks out over the expansive 50 hectare ‘parc à l’Anglaise’ (English-design park) with its stands of tall, mature trees, and uniform yet effortlessly natural presentation. In addition to the rooms in the main house, there is further accommodation in the "Le Fruitier" Cottage, the orangery which has been converted to provide rusticly chic bedrooms and a three-bedroom apartment.

Also in the garden, there is a 12 x 6 metre swimming pool, a tennis court, and cycling and fishing opportunities to be had.

On the ground floor, the public rooms are as magnificent as they are spacious, all decorated in 18th century French style. The grand salon is, well, very grand, while the salon vert is smaller, more intimate and more relaxed. Guests may opt for a visit to the library where they can read or play billiards. There is also a piano on which to play.

The Loire valley is famous for its chateaux, and for many visitors these are the focal point of a visit to the area. What better way to pass a holiday amongst the chateaux than to actually stay in one?

Restaurant:

Dinner can be reserved to be taken at small candelit tables in the attractive dining room with its silk curtains. Booked 24 hours in advance, guests enjoy a 3-course meal of refined local cuisine at 39€ per head (excluding drinks). The menu varies each night, and produce from the hotel’s vegetable garden is a particular pleasure. Half an hour before dinner is served, an apéritif is offered in one of the living rooms or the garden. Then after the meal a liqueur awaits guests in the Grand Salon or the Salon Vert, along with coffee or tea.

Deposit:

A credit card number and a 30% deposit (1 night for stays of 3 nights or less) is required to guarantee a reservation.

Cancellations:

Cancellations should be received in writing (e-mail or fax) at least 30 days before scheduled arrival. In that case the deposit will be refunded less a 32 euros administration charge.
From 21 to 30 days notice, 50% of the deposit is refunded.
From 4 to 21 days notice, 50% of the reservations is charged.
Less than 4 days notice, early departures and no-shows, the full amount is charged, unless the room can be re-booked.
