For nature lovers, Les Bois d'Esves ('bois' means 'wood') is a marvellous little place in central-western France, close to the Loire valley. With just four rooms, this is a small guesthouse in a huge expanse of countryside. Buried in 98 acres of wonderful private woodland, it is nevertheless a very open setting and also a private one, as guests are free to stroll around the hotel's own land. Despite this calm environment, there is much of interest for those who wish to explore the outside world. There are lots of local pathways to follow as well as the wider world beyond.

The bedrooms are all on the first floor, simply but charmingly furnished and giving views out over the large garden and the woods.

Out in the garden, there is a 10 x 5 metre swimming pool, and one can certainly have a decent swim in there rather than solely having to use it for a quick dip. Being so small, and owner-managed, means that the dining experience is a very friendly one, and the owners will taske time to provide much information about the area. Just a few kilometres from Descartes, Les Bois d'Esves is well-placed for those who intend to tour the countless châteaux that can be visited around this area, including the many in the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

Restaurant:

Dinner is available for 25 euros per person, including aperitif and wine. Often the owners will join their guests for dinner, giving a family dinner party feel to the occasion.
There are other restaurants (menu from € 15) and pizzerias just 4 km away.
