Twenty miles away from the communes of Epernay and Sézanne, to the south of Reims, Château d'Etoges is a great place to be based to explore the region (you are in the heart of the Champagne wine-growing area), as well as to enjoy one of twenty-eight individualised guest rooms and the superb orangerie-situated restaurant, which is one of its key features.

Firstly, the bedrooms and suites: they are found in both the main château building and the orangerie, and have wi-fi access, a private bathroom, hair-dryer and a direct-line phone. There are four different sizes of bedroom, ranging from the more rural décor of the Classic Rooms and the stylish Privilège Rooms to the contemporary/antique mélange of those in the Orangerie.

The grounds are vast and many guests like to row boats around the moat. Being in the centre of a certain region called ‘Champagne', you will not be surprised, but will be pleased to know that Château d'Etoges arranges wine tastings for you: there is a range of tours and packages, as well as their champagne tourist trail (see table below). In addition, the hotel has a range of games to keep you amused, such as table tennis, pétanque and board and card games. Champagne is, of course, one of the world's legendary wine regions, with its protected-status sparkling wines making the region iconic around the world, and a vast range of vineyards throughout the area. Given that Burgundy is nearby, ‘viticulture' really lives and breathes in this part of France.

Restaurant:

The beautiful symmetry of the orangerie at the château makes for a wonderful dinner venue, at which a range of three different and delicious set menus are served. The superb quality of the food is a major drawing point of Château d'Etoges. Please see the sample menus.
