Villa Kerasy is a four-star hotel and spa in Vannes, near the Gulf of Morbihan. It was from here that galleons of the East India Company went to Asia to bring back spices and other exotic goods during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Each room is thus named after a different trading post along the Spice Route and furnishings have been appropriately brought from Asia to decorate the carefully-designed guest rooms.

The spa is now an integral part of the hotel. Opened in 2009, facilities include a steam bath, chromotherapy 'experience showers' and a relaxation room with Ayurvedic herbal teas (Ayurveda is a form of holistic therapy). There are an array of treatments on offer, designed to revitalise spirit and body. There is also an Ayurveda-influenced Indian massage available. The spa adds an extra and significant element to the relaxing atmosphere that the owners originally aimed to create with Villa Kerasy.

This sense of well-being doesn't stop with the spa, because all bedrooms feature duvets and cotton percale sheets, Roger & Gallet cosmetics, fresh flowers and bath robes and slippers. The owners have said that they wanted this 'warm hotel to breathe serenity', and we think that their efforts have not failed. The rooms also satisfy various practical concerns, such as wi-fi internet, TV and a safe.

Although located in the centre of the town, the hotel has the benefit of a delightful Japanese garden and a small terrace for sitting out. Beyond the town, the amazing patchwork of bays and islands in the Gulf of Morbihan is captivating.

Restaurant:

There is no restaurant at Villa Kerasy, but there are certainly some appetising meal options in Vannes, and the hotel can recommend a range of different establishments. Breakfast is served at the villa though and includes home-made conserves.
