Chateau Meyre is the very essence of what a French chateau should be: a handsome traditional building located right in the heart of the Médoc wine area, between Moulis and Margaux, producing it's own wines from an estate that has been cultivated with vines for over three centuries. The chateau's hotel is Le Clos de Meyre.

The fine-looking 19th century country house underwent extensive renovation in recent years, resulting in the 7 guest rooms and 2 suites, divided between the main building and the attractive 'pavilion'. Each room has been decorated differently, and bears the name of a Greek, Roman or Celtic goddess. The rooms in the chateau are awash with decoration, while the new rooms in the pavilion have a more modern air, still with traditional and country touches. Views are either of the garden or the vineyard.

Witihin the grounds of the hotel, there is a large swimming pool with a retractable roof to make the pool and terrace useable even in inclement weather. There is also a tennis court and sauna for the use of guests.

Clearly one of the most appealing aspects of the hotel is the culture of wine that surrounds it. The place names here are redolent of the finest of French viticulture. As well as the chateau's own vineyard, the there are plenty of opportunities to visit other vineyards, learn more about wine and of course to sample some of the product. The hotel will be pleased to help with arrangements.

Guest Feedback:

"Great place to stay. Lovely old chateau and grounds in the middle of vineyards. Our room was in the old chateau (not the new wing) and it was beautiful. Not huge, but big enough and charming, overlooking the vineyards. Everything was very clean, staff were friendly. There is nowhere to eat on site, but there is a restaurant (Le Savoie) in Margaux, just a few minutes away, that was fantastic. You can rent bikes on site and take a ride through the vineyards - very flat and easy riding and it was beautiful. The pool outside is lovely, and you get a free wine tour with your stay."

"The service was wonderful and the staff welcoming and helpful. They should all be congratulated on providing an amazing stay for guests."
