On the eastern edge of the wild flatlands of the Camargue, Hôtel Mas de Peint is a family-owned hotel flooded with warmth and hospitality. Hotel in the Camargue Centred around a stone farmhouse dating from 1602, amidst a 1300-acre estate, this 'little hotel' is certainly not short on space.

In creating their guest house, the Bon family have thoughtfully crafted a compromise between the conviviality of a traditional French 'maison d’'hôtes' and the carefully-applied stylish touch of an 'hôtel de charme'. Each of the 8 individually-appointed rooms and 3 suites has been elegantly laid out. The different types include one with a Victorian-style bathroom, some with a bathroom on a mezzanine level, and one bedroom with beamed ceiling. The wooden furniture is of a high quality, and the family have not scrimped on the beds either, with comfort a priority here. Rooms also have television, air-conditioning and wi-fi internet connection.

The garden is an inviting place for a stroll, or simply to sit and relax, and the swimming pool is not to be missed on a sunny day.

The Camargue is justifiably famous for the white Camargue horses, black bulls and pink flamingoes that make this unique delta region their own. At Mas de Peint, there is a stable of horses, available for guests to ride around the farm, mixing with the herd of bulls within the beautifully rugged landscape. After all that action, one might seek something a bit more relaxing. This is where another service on offer comes in- try a soothing massage with essential oils. Activities can be organised in the form of traditional Camarguais sports, as well as others from quadding to wine tasting. There are 3 separate parts of the estate which can be individually booked for events, including 'La Bergerie', used for seminars, weddings and receptions.

Restaurant:

Our favourite aspect of this hotel is probably the restaurant. Excellent food is served in the dining room, from where you can see it being prepared with pride right before your very eyes. Outdoor seating is also available on the stone-flagged terrace.
Closed all day Wednesdays, and also for lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A Word From the Owner:

"Born on the estate, Jacques Bon, a breeder at heart, restored this mas with his architect wife Lucille, to make it a high quality Camarguais guest house. Frédéric has been passionately continuing the work of his father. The Bon family awaits your arrival for you to discover this magical place."

What We Say:

The Bon family are utterly committed to the Camargue tradition, landscape and way-of-life. Their hotel exists to give each one fo their guests a generous slice of the Camargue experience.

From the Guestbook:

"The best part of all was the dining experience. We ate in the kitchen (unmissable) and it was fascinating to watch the chef create our dishes as we dined. Up to 10 minutes before we sat down, there was not even a menu as the chef had not decided what to cook! There was an evident focus on fresh local produce. We enjoyed a pumpkin soup "amuse gueule", then white asparagus cooked three different ways in a lemon sauce with slivers of truffle, a main local fish dish, then cheese, and finally pineapple "reduction" with coconut icecream. A superb wine list provided a Costieres de Nimes from a vineyard we had passed by earlier in the day. The meal was made more special by friendly visits from the gracious owner (Mme Lucille Bon) and the chef (handshakes all round)."

"This place is magic. It is more like being a guest in Mme and M. Bon's home than a hotel. The rooms are immaculate and there are roses everywhere. The linen sheets are crisp and cool and the bath tub huge. I have never stayed in a more charming spot; this was far and away my favorite hotel in all of Provence."

"The rooms are very comfortable and the dining/breakfast room is fab. The pool is surrounded by amazingly fragrant flowers."
