Les Roches has its own fitness studio including a cross trainer and bike, a multitude of weight machines and an array of dumbbells with bench. The bright salon has an enormous window and three French doors which lead on to the terrace, where breakfast and dinner is often served in the summer. As well as the books to be discovered there, the library has maps and brochures on Burgundy tourist attractions, and contacts for a selection of vineyards, plus a television with hundreds of channels in various languages. In the wine cellar, different tasting events are held, both by owners Tobias and Marco, and by local wine expert Brendan Moore.
The gardens at Les Roches have something for everyone: there is a sun-filled terrace, crunchy gravel pathways, springy verdant lawns, roses, stautes, pots and a delightful back-to-nature woodland.
Naturally each of the six bedrooms is unique, but common themes of garden views, french windows, balconies, antique furniture and tastefully light, bright paintwork run through. Then there is the Gardener's Cottage- arguably the jewel in the crown of Les Roches. This luxury self-catering accommodation can be booked for week-long or short-term rentals (with a minimum stay of 3 nights). It has two double bedrooms, each with private bathroom, which lead to a small, private sun-lit terrace. There is a large lounge featuring a flat-screen television with over 400 channels, iPod and Bose docking station, wi-fi access and wood-burning fireplace, as well as a dining room and a kitchen which includes fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, stove, espresso maker and microwave. A basic supply of food awaits new arrivals, amongst which is freshly baked bread, white and red wine, ham, cheese, butter and yoghurts. Guests in the Gardener's Cottage may also choose to have breakfast or dinner in the main house if they prefer.
Restaurant:
There is quite a variety here. On Thursdays and Saturdays, a home-cooked dinner is offered for 32€ a head (must be booked in advance), making use of seasonal and regional ingredients. Burgundy wines are recommended to match each course. This is a four-course meal, taken either in the candle-lit dining room or on the terrace, ending with coffee or tea in the library. On Mondays and Fridays, a Brasserie-style dinner is served, with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts (various prices).
Other days present dinners consisting of a selection of cold cuts, selection of cheeses, salad and fresh bread for 19€ a head.

What We Say:
A relatively new hotel in an old building, Tobias and Marco have already established Les Roches as a popular hotel for those seeking calm and exploration in the legendary wine region of Burgundy.Guest Feedback:
"Les Roches is really special - wonderfully grand but at the same time very cosy. The décor is impossibly chic and a 'less is more' approach lets the exquisite original features shine through. Tobias and Marco are great hosts and the local area feels like a slice of real rural France - a gorgeous landscape, friendly locals, amazing wildlife, pretty villages and of course delicious food and wine."
"We have returned from France with that 'vacation glow' due in no small part to our visit at Les Roches. The house is so elegant, yet so warm and inviting. We enjoyed visiting the countryside all the more because we knew we would return to Les Roches at the end of the day. Your hospitality and friendliness went well beyond the expected and we felt quite privileged to have been your guests. Thank you for all your help and the special touches which made out trip among our most enjoyable. You are both wonderful hosts. We hope to see you again on our next trip to France."
"Your kindness and hospitality have added an extra dimension to our time here. We felt totally at home, from the moment we were welcomed and everything we could have wanted was at our disposal. Our room was beautiful - waking up to a spectacular view every morning was a real treat. As were the wonderful meals we had here - Michelin should be giving a few stars here! We both feel we have made two new friends and look forward eagerly to our return. Until then, we'll have to make do with our wonderful memories."
