The 1st arrondissement in Paris (arrondissements are the city's districts) is on the elegant Right Bank and home to the Louvre Museum , the Palais-Royal palace and garden and the Louvre Opera House, as well as one of the capital's most refined and best-value hotels.

The 43 rooms in Hôtel Thérèse are decorated in eight different colour schemes and adorned with high-quality fabrics; heavy cotton or velvet, rich wool or striped canvas. The hotel states that their aim is to create ‘unpretentious elegance’, something much sought after in Paris, and we think they’ve succeeded. The look is at once classic and contemporary, with soft but useful lighting, exclusive designer furniture and a different picture on the wall in each. Again, en-suite bathrooms are a mixture of old and new: period-style fittings are blended seamlessly with lighting by the respected designer Philippe Starck. All rooms have air-con, a minibar, cable TV, safe and wi-fi access, and there is the option to have room service breakfast.

Rue Thérèse itself is named after Maria Teresa of Spain , the wife of King Louis XIV. Prior to that, it was called ‘Rue de la Fortune', due to the various casinos in the area. Here, you will find 17 th and 18 th -century mansions with beautiful stone walls.

Restaurant:

Breakfast is available (both a buffet and an express option, the latter being a hot drink and 2 pastries), as is an afternoon tea with a hot drink, biscuit and chocolate cake. There is no restaurant for the evening meal, but this is Paris and there are plenty of excellent recommendations (see Nearby Amenities for some of the best).

What We Say:

It is not easy to find hotels in big cities with a level of individuality to each room, and moreover with a warm feel that tells every guest that they are important. We were pleased to discover Hôtel Recamier and realise that it had been achieved here. Do not expect guest rooms to be big, but this is not an issue. They are well-appointed, and the design is superb. It is clear that the owners have dedicated themselves to a fantastic little hotel in a big city.
